VFR pilot pre-flight checklist

A pre-flight checklist orders decisions that are easy to skip on a short training flight or under time pressure. Besides weather and airspace, it is worth always checking performance, fuel, weight and balance, frequencies, alternates and your own physical and mental state. In practice many GA incidents stem from omitting one of these elements rather than a single major error.

A consistent briefing rhythm

This page helps you build a repeatable flight preparation rhythm: first weather and airspace, then route, performance and documents, and finally a conscious go/no-go decision. With links to other PilotHub modules you can go through the whole process without jumping between many tools.

Frequently asked questions

What is the pre-flight checklist for?
It helps you go step by step through key briefing items: weather, airspace, route, alternates, fuel, documents and go/no-go decision. Tick state is saved locally in your browser, so you can return to the list during the day.
Is data saved on the server?
No. The checklist runs only in your browser (localStorage). No data is sent to the server. You can use it offline after the first page load.
How do I start from scratch (new flight)?
Click the "New flight" button above or next to the checklist. This clears the list and unchecks all items so you can run through the briefing again for the next flight.
Does the checklist replace official procedures?
No. It is a support tool to build a briefing rhythm and remind you of key steps. Always follow operator procedures, AIP and legal requirements.
Which PilotHub tools are useful before flight?
VFR Planner (zones and route), airport search (alternates), flight risk assessment and E6B calculator. The "Prepare for flight" page links to them for quick access.
